Description

SOCIAL WORKER

 

Provides the necessary professional skills to assist students, parents, teachers and communities

in problem solving and conflict resolution in a safe and healthy manner.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in social services.
Current SC Social Worker license.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Consults with school staff members and parents to identify at-risk students; conducts surveys to

assess school and/or community needs.


Develops short and long-term intervention strategies consistent with curriculum, student needs,

strengths, diversity and life experience to maximize educational opportunities and abilities.


Implements school-wide programs and promotes parental responsibility for attendance

improvement. Facilitates development of dropout prevention programs.


Assists families with the interpretation of school policies and procedures.


Collaborates with support personnel within the school, district and community.


Advocates for appropriate services for students and their families.
Conducts home visits as needed.


Assumes responsibility for professional development, for keeping current with literature,

new research findings, and improved techniques in specialized areas. Attends appropriate

professional, committee, and/or team meetings as directed or assigned.


Adheres to relevant federal, state and local mandates, guidelines and requirements.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Services,

Superintendent or other District Office A0dministrator as designated by the Superintendent.

EXPERIENCE:

Working knowledge of Social Work theory and practice.
Ability to conduct assessments and provide intervention options.
Ability to collaborate with mental health professionals, student support staff, parents, students

and community groups.
Ability to facilitate training and workshops for small groups.
