TITLE: SUBSTITUTE TEACHER
QUALIFICATION: 1. High School Diploma and a passing score on the paraprofessional
exam; or an Associates Degree or 60 credit hours; or a Bachelor’s
degree or higher.
2. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board find
appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To create and maintain a positive, stimulating environment for
students to promote a culture of learning. Establish clear objectives
for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives
to students.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct the learning procedure in the lesson plans for projects, lessons or units assigned by the teacher.
- Make use of instructional procedures and materials which are most suitable for attaining lesson goals
Check attendance according to the procedures of the school
- Ensure an orderly and tidy classroom, especially at the end of the day.
- Adhere to all procedures, guidelines, and policies followed by regular teachers.
- Ensure a sustainable relationship with parents, pupils, school personnel, and members of the public by communicating in a confidential, polite and refined manner.
- Follow Board of Education Policies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to comply with written and/or oral instructions and to communicate them in clear, understandable terms.
- Ability to create an efficient working relationship with other personnel
- Skilled in maintaining efficient classroom management.
- Willingness to stand for most hours of the day or sit for extensive periods of time
- Maintain appropriate relationship with pupils on a daily basis
- Understands the growth and development of students being served.
